Michigan Car Accident Checklist
If you were involved in a Michigan car accident, would you know what to do?
Here is a checklist of steps that you can take after a car accident, to help protect yourself and your legal rights:
Stay Calm:
Stop to protect yourself and your passengers. Call the police to report the car accident. If anyone is seriously injured, call an ambulance. Set flares if you carry them. Do not leave the scene of the car accident.

Write down the make, body type, year, and license plate number of the vehicles involved in the car accident. Make note of the damage to each motor vehicle.
Draw a Diagram of the Car Accident Scene:
Mark the date and time of the car accident on the diagram, along with street names and the location of stop lights, traffic control signs, and other landmarks.
File an Auto Insurance Claim:
Report the car accident to your auto insurance company immediately and get for an insurance claim number. Tell the insurance representative that you are claiming Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits and all other benefits and coverage that may be available under your auto insurance policy.
